Updates about Karen's Condition - March 2001
- February 26 - March 4 - Unfortunately there is not much new to
report this week. Karen is still in Barnes and still waiting for the surgery to mend enough
so that she can start to get up. Her infections are getting better though and she's down to
just one antibiotic in small doses.
- March 5 - 11 - Karen has been moved to Room 200 at the Barnes
Jewish Extended Care Center in Clayton. It is a nice facility and she is happy there, or
at least she will be once she gets her tv/remote control situation worked out. She still
hasn't healed enough to sit up, but the doctors have told her that she should be able to
start sitting up (for a half an hour at a time) in 3 weeks so now she's counting down the days.
- March 15 - There will not be a Karen update this Sunday (3/18),
but be sure to tune in next week to read all the latest about the Karen recovery roller coaster...
- March 16 - 25 - Karen is still in her holding pattern, waiting
for the wound to heal enough so that she can start to sit up again. She is being seen
regularly by a physician's assistant who brought good news last week - that there is only
one more spot (as opposed to 3 the previous week) that still needs to heal. She's hoping
that this one spot heals quickly because she is anxious to get up since she has been laying
down for 9 weeks now!
