Updates about Karen's Condition - September 2000

• August 28 - September 3 - A quiet week in the Weir household, Karen is pretty much bed-bound so she just spent a lot of time healing this week. The wound-vac is helping, but probably not enough to prevent the need for surgery. She'll see her doctor on Wednesday this week and hopes to be ready enough for surgery to schedule a date...
• September 4 - 10 - Karen saw her doctor this week but there is STILL no big news to report from him. He said that the wound-vac is helping to close the wound's diameter but it is really not doing anything to make the wound less deep so she will still definitely need surgery, but probably a lesser form of the surgery than originally planned. However, she still has no date scheduled for the surgery and is still stuck in bed waiting for the darn thing to heal. She is enjoying her bed in the family room though, it lets her spend more time with the kids and stay a part of everything.
• September 11 - 17 - Karen had another quiet week in bed, the wound-vac continues to help the sore to heal but Karen won't see her doctor again until October 4 for the official update. Karen hosted a birthday party for Amanda & Morgan (and some other family members) this weekend. She's also making appointments with contractors who will put a lift in the house (so she can go to the basement) and make the shower in the master bathroom easier for her to access once she's back up and about. So, she's staying busy and on top of things even from bed.
• September 18 - 24 - Nothing exciting to report this week -- Karen continues to spend her days in bed and the wound-vac is making big improvements to the sore (even making it a little less deep) so she is really looking forward to her 10/4 doctor appointment. Otherwise, she continues to stay busy by keeping track of the girls' busy schedules (all those soccer games!) and the home improvements.
• September 25 - October 1 - Unfortunately there is nothing new to report from the Weir camp this week. Karen had another peaceful, restful week of healing in bed and she is looking forward to her doctor visit on Wednesday.
