Good news: Karen is breathing mostly on her own. Machine 2: Karen 20 breaths. They bathed her last night and there is now a pillow beneath her head. Her bed is slightly more elevated thereby obscuring photo immediately behind her head. Tim said Karen may have surgery this evening. They may insert a metal filter into her vena cava (main vein entering heart as opposed to aorta which is main vein leaving her heart). Purpose: to block clots which would originate in her legs, preventing them from entering her lungs, heart, brain. Body absorbs broken clot bits. Tim was studying at her bedside. She was sleeping. Her hair is gently gathered into a pony tail which hangs over top of bed.
